“Red Museum” Leather Jacket (Original Model)

Appearance: The X-Files, episode "Red Museum" (2X10), which premiered on the Fox network on December 9, 1994.

Worn by character: "Crew Cut Man" / "The Cleaner"

Played by actor: Lindsey Ginter (December 13, 1950 – September 1, 2024)

Acquired: December 2025

Item information: This leather jacket is not a reproduction. It's the actual original model of the jacket worn in the episode. Not the screen-used garment, but the exact same model. Bought by someone in the early 1990s, acquired by me in December 2025. Considering its age (30+ years) it is also in very good condition. Prior to getting this, I had two reproductions made, the first (a “prototype”) in March 2022, and the second a few months later, but that's a very long story that would require a whole separate page.

Additional tidbit: During my long search for this garment I actually managed to reach out to Lindsey Ginter, the actor portraying Crew Cut Man. His first appearance on The X-Files was in episode “The Erlenmeyer Flask” (1X23). We exchanged several messages, the first time in September 2022 and the last time in December of that year. He was very kind during our communication.

While I don't think it would be fair sharing the entire exchanges, I do think the following part should be shared with fellow X-Files fans, so here's a direct copy-paste from one of his e-mails to me…

Doing “Crew Cut Man’ on X-Files was a dream job for me. The Directors (Casting as well as Production), fellow actors, and the crew were all so supportive of my efforts. I especially loved the strong writing and the contribution my character made to the arch of the overall X-Files legacy. My character’s existence changed the path of X-Files for the next few seasons. I am grateful to have been chosen for that role. Thanks Chris Carter.

The actor sadly passed away on September 1, 2024. Outside his character on The X-Files, he had roles in many other TV shows and movies.
